Dahi Barray (Savory Balls in Yogurt)

Ingredients

  • Urad dal 1/2 cup
  • Moong dal 1/2 cup
  • Garlic 2 to 3 cloves
  • Yogurt 1 cup
  • Spice to taste (cumin, paprika, kala namak, chat masala)
  • Oil for frying
  • Milk 1/4 cup

Directions

  • Clean dal, wash and soak in water for 4 hours.
  • Blend it in blender with garlic at medium speed using the minimum amount of water required to keep paste moving freely.
  • Add salt and start heating oil.
  • Drop spoonfuls of batter in the hot oil using a large tablespoon. Fry until golden brown.
  • Drop in water. Let it soak till ready to serve.
  • Beat yogurt with milk. Add spice according to taste. Squeeze out water from the barra and add yogurt.
  • Serve it with tamarind chutnee
