Chicken Nihari

Ingredients

  • Chicken  1/2 kg
  • Bay leaves 2
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp.
  • Onion,  1 chopped finely
  • Ginger paste 1/2 tsp.
  • Garlic paste 1/2 tsp.
  • Flour (maida) 2 Tbs.
  • Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp.
  • Yoghurt 1/4 cup
  • Oil 2 Tbs.

Grind together:

  • Saunf 1 Tbs.
  • Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp.
  • Pepper 1/2 tsp
  • Dry Ginger powder 1/4 tsp.
  • Badi elaichi  1
  • Cinnamon 1/2″
  • Nutmeg powder 1/4 tsp.
  • Cloves 5

Directions

  • Heat oil in a pot. Saute chicken till light brown . Remove, drain and keep aside .Fry onion, till golden brown.
  • Add meat and grinned ingredients, ginger-garlic paste, salt, chilli powder, yogurt, turmeric powder and bay leaves.
  • Add required water (approx 3-4 glasses) and let the chicken cook on slow flame till tender.
  • Then dissolve maida in 1/2 cup water, and pour slowly into the chicken , stirring continuously.
  • Let it cook for some more time, and get the gravy to required consistency.
  • Garnish with grated ginger, coriander leaves and green chillies .

Serve hot with Naan .
